The Big Ilfracombe Spring Clean for 2019 took place a few weeks ago and was, once again, a great success.
We had over 30 people turn up at the Ilfracombe Centre who then picked litter, cleaned, gardened and tidied throughout the town plus a team who focused on the area around Mullacott pulling bag upon bag of rubbish off the verges and out of hedge rows. We also had a fantastic turnout of over 30 people in Hele (10% of the entire community!) who tidied up around the village and beach at Hele Bay.
The Big Ilfracombe Spring Clean was also registered as part of the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean, #GBSpringClean.
The idea was to address identified “grot spots” around the town for just a couple of hours. Equipment was be provided courtesy of Ilfracombe Town Council and North Devon Council. We were also lucky enough to purchase new equipment through the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government High Street Community Clean-Up fund.
If you couldn’t join us this time round we now have community clean up packs which include litter picks, shovels, buckets and other cleaning tools and equipment. You can now borrow these to clean up your areas by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . It only take 15 minutes to clean up around the front of you home or business every once in a while and you’ll be suprised what a difference it makes.
The One Ilfracombe team would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part.
