Age Concern Barnstaple & District

Age Concern Barnstaple & District is concerned for the ‘quality of life and the well-being’ of older people in the local community. Their aim is to improve the quality of life for older people and their carers. Working locally with and for older people providing services on a social and practical level to enable them to live in their own homes for as long as it is safe for them to do so.

Age Concern provides day opportunities in order to support older people and their carers to maintain as independent and as full a life as possible.

  • Mondays – 2.00pm to 4.00pm – The Rainbow Club
    Meeting venue – The Community Room, 1 Litchdon Street Barnstaple
  • The 3rd Wednesday of every month – 2.00pm – 4.00pm – The Library Club
    Meeting venue – Henry Williamson Room, of the Barnstaple library. Guest speaker raffle and refreshments.
  • Tuesdays & Fridays – 10.00am – 12 noon – Morning ‘Pop In’
    Information and signposting with coffee and scones. Occasional lunches arranged.

Care for: Dementia, Detention under Mental Health, Mental Health, Old Age, Physical Difficulties, Sensory Impairment, Alzheimers, Huntington Disease,

Alcoholics Anonymous – Ilfracombe

Alcoholics Anonymous hold weekly meetings throughout the year  and run a 24 hour helpline.

Open meetings: non-alcoholics can attend the meeting
Closed meetings: only alcoholics or those who have a desire to stop drinking can attend the meeting
