Last week members of the One Ilfracombe Team attended and facilitated a Being Aware workshop delivered by Workways who promote mental health through learning and work.

The aims of the workshop were:

  • To improve understanding of mental health conditions.
  • To consider main diagnoses, causes, symptoms, treatment & recovery.
  • To consider aspects of being with someone in distress.

The presentation and workshop was attended by numerous individuals from local organisations including Ilfracombe Town Council , Drink Wise Age Well, Devon Partnership Trust, Ilfracombe Food Bank, Torrs Park Dentist, Ilfracombe Academy, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service

You can get more information on mental health conditions via the Devon Partnership NHS Trust website and if have not yet seen it, the Black Dog video shows one mans journey in dealing with his own depression.

Don’t forget that One Ilfracombe, with funding from the Big Lottery Fund, will also be hosting the Ilfracombe Mindful Fair on Thursday 1st March at 2pm at The Lantern Centre, Ilfracombe.
