Devon Carers is an information, support and short breaks service run by eight organisations working together to improve the quality of services for all carers in Devon.

  • Training to help you care
  • An alert card to ensure the person you care for gets help if something unexpected happens to you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Flexible Breaks Grants for help towards a holiday, or hobbies or leisure activities
  • Take a break sitting service providing subsidised short breaks, to give you time off from caring
  • Respite activities for young carers
  • Welfare benefit checks
  • Health and wellbeing checks to check your health, stress levels and mental wellbeing and discuss how you could be supported in your caring role

Learn Devon

Learn Devon provide adult and community education courses in Devon covering everything from providing key skills to helping people improve at their hobbies. They run hundreds of courses at centres all across Devon, so whether you want to gain new skills, improve on existing ones, gain a qualification, learn skills to help you get back to work or just meet new people, they will help you find a course that is right for you.

 

National Careers Service

Develop your CV, search and apply for jobs, understand the job market, search for courses and training schemes, find funding to support any learning, identify your key strengths and skills, explore your career options, choose training routes that fit your lifestyle, develop an action plan to help you achieve your goals.

North Devon Children’s Centres

All the centres offer a variety of drop-in activities to encourage early play and learning. These include stay and play, singing and story time sessions. The drop in groups run on a first come, first serve basis and are free of charge. Parents and carers with a baby or child under 5 years, including dads, grandparents and childminders are all welcome.

Parents and carers can also access a range of other useful services from the centres, including health and parenting advice, adult learning opportunities and help to get back into training and employment.
