Adult Craft Groups

The Adult Craft Group meets the 1st Wednesday of every month, 10.30am – 12.30.
This is a FREE group, sometimes a donation for art materials is required.
Come along and try out a number of different craft projects, everyone welcome.

Art Classes

Local artist Ian Hudson can offer art classes for people of all abilities at:

  • Manor Hall, Berrynarbor, Thurdays 10-12.30 (10 week term £70).
  • North Devon Yacht Club in Instow Mondays 10.30am – 12.30 (10 wk term £70)
  • North Devon Yacht Club in Instow Mondays 2pm – 4pm (10 wk term £70)
  • North Devon Yacht Club in Instow Tuesdays 10am-1pm (10wk term £90)

Mixed ability groups, everyone welcome. Learn how to paint in watercolours. Life Drawing classes also available.

 

Capstone Ladies Club

The Capstone Ladies meet on the 4th Monday of the month at 2.15pm in Emmanuel Church, Avenue Road entrance. They are always open to new members.
There is usually a speaker in the afternoon and the topics are varied. In the winter months from Sept to Easter, a handicraft group is open to members on Friday afternoons 2-4pm in Emmanuel Church.
There is a £12 per year subscription payable after the annual general meeting in March and a monthly group meeting charge of £1 charge per meeting to help cover costs from speakers and includes tea or coffee.

 

Ilfracombe Arts & Craft Society

In the late sixties a small group of artists joined together with a desire to promote and encourage painting and craft skills in North Devon. They aimed to achieve this by displaying the work of local artists by means of an annual exhibition, the proceeds of which raise money to support local charities.

North Devon Arts are a friendly and informal networking group of professional and amateur artists and anyone with an interest in the arts. You do not have to be a practising artist to join – membership is open to anyone.
The group meet on the second Wednesday evening of each month, usually at Broomhill Art Hotel. These meetings are open to all interested in the Arts, with a possible charge of £4 for non-members.
Membership costs £25.00 per year (by cheque) £22.50 (by BACS).

The University of the Third Age is a learning cooperative for people who draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership.
U3As offer the chance to study different subjects such as art, crafts, local history, garden visits, opera, geology, walking and many others. Although called a University no academic qualifications are required to join. There is no formal teaching or learning and no examinations. There is no age limit but members tend to be retired, semi retired or approaching retirement.

Coffee mornings at 10.30am on the 1st Thursday of the month, at the Ilfracombe Golf Club.
Price: £2.50 includes entry tea/coffee with unlimited top-ups.

Monthly lunches on the second Thursday each month which includes a speaker with talks lasting around half an hour.
Price: £12.00 per person for a 2 course meal with tea/coffee.

Quay Drawing Classes are held at St. Anne’s Art and Community Centre on Tuesdays from 24th Feb to 24th March 2015.
Under the expert tuition of Pete Newell, you will start with drawing from still life exploring a variety of techniques and media. As the course develops you will be taken from drawing through to painting, working from a variety of subject matter concluding with finished pieces of work.
Each session may be stand alone or can be undertaken as part of the whole course.

  • Fully qualified tutors
  • All materials provided
  • Adults only
  • 10am-12pm at £18 per person, per session or £82 for all 5
  • 10am-1pm at £27 or £120 for all 5
  • Maximum 10 places per session

Please note: due to the nature of the building there is no disabled access.

Shamwick Art Group

Every Thursday 2pm – 4pm (term time)
Subscriptions are £30 per year or £15 for 6 months.  Visitors can pay £2 a session for a trial period to see if the group is for them.
Visiting art tutor workshops are £5 – £10 per person depending on numbers attending.

Clubs run from Weds – Sat

Bring along your latest project, enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up with like minded crafters. If you are new to the craft you will gain inspiration and tips to get you started.   Whatever your craft, whatever your level, you are welcome. Learn new skills and see the ingenious creations you can come up with.  Bring your work or pick up tools and materials in store to start something new.

  • Wednesdays – Felt – 1-4pm help yourself to my wool rovings etc £5

  •  Thursdays – Knitting and crochet – 2-4pm FREE

  •  Fridays – Sewing – 2-4 pm FREE- Embroidery, cross stitch – whatever is your thing.   If you want to use a sewing machine there will be one available, or bring your own.

  •  Saturdays – Open craft – everyone welcome, particularly children – help yourself to my materials 11am – 1pm £5

    Knitting and crochet  2-4pm FREE- for those of you who are working during the week.
