Cow Green was a derelict brown field site which has been developed into a community garden based on eco friendly principles, providing green open space where the residents can garden and observe wildlife.
If you like gardening and have an interest in helping out in the community then the graveyard group might be what you are looking for. Taking care of the grounds at the Holy Trinity Church involves a wide range of general gardening and maintenance skills and is also a great way to meet people with similar interests.
The Laston Green Growers Community Allotment is open to all who wish to save money by growing their own vegetables. The team are pleased to support this community led initiative by providing free classes on how to plant and grow vegetables and other produce. There will also be art classes running on site in the future as Laston Green now has a wooden club house for community use.
North Devon Voluntary Services support voluntary, community and social enterprise type groups across North Devon. Local projects include:
- Dog walking
- Wheel chair escorts
The Cairn Conservation Carers group meet every 2 weeks on a Sunday (weather permitting) and spend a morning on a range of tasks including tree planting, path improvements, meadow management etc. Contact Mike for more details.
