Social Care & Support
The Incredible Years is a 12 week course for parents/ carers of children aged between 2 and 8 years old with challenging behaviour. Because parenting is one of the hardest jobs, and yet it is given the least amount of preparation or training. The Incredible Years was designed by the American clinical psychologist, Dr Carolyn Webster Stratton and aimed at parents with young children who are learning to test the limits of their environment, finding out what will be tolerated and what will not.
This is a free service for people aged 65 or over who feel they are experiencing difficulties because of isolation, have had a recent bereavement, or are having stress through everyday life. Time for Life is funded by Devon County Council and is based in Barnstaple.

Women’s Aid is the national charity for women and children working to end domestic abuse. Over the past 40 years Women’s Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice. They empower survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, listening and responding to their needs. The 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 (run in partnership with Refuge) and their range of online services, which include the Survivors’ Forum, help hundreds of thousands of women and children every year.
