If you see a new person patrolling the streets of Ilfracombe you may have the pleasure of meeting Dominic Facey, who is undertaking work experience for two months alongside Ilfracombe Town Council Hygiene Operative, Clive Denham.
Dominic joins the team after undertaking One Ilfracombe’s Pathways to Work programme. The programme aims to support those onto a pathway into employment by considering the individuals’ needs and brokering local opportunities.
Dominic has undertaken a wide variety of work so far, from helping keep the town clean by clearing dog mess through to tree and hedge trimming, and weed spraying.
Dominic says: “I’ve learnt a lot helping the One Ilfracombe Town Team in lfracombe already. It’s been great to help the community and I’ve received some lovely praise from people around the town on the work that we are doing.”
Sarah Hiscock, Community Engagement Co-ordinator, adds: “It is a pleasure to be able to offer Dominic some work experience to help him on his pathway to gaining employment. We hope that other businesses in Ilfracombe will also be able to offer those needing more experience a work placement or a shorter period of work experience. There are other people still looking for some work experience so if you are a local business able to assist please contact me at the Ilfracombe Centre.”
