Out of the Blue Cadets Autumn 2018

The final session of the One Ilfracombe Out of the Blue Cadets scheme (Autumn 2018)  was a fantastic to way to end the nine week programme which has given 16 local young people access to the expertise of Devon & Cornwall Police, Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Ilfracombe RNLI and the South West Ambulance Service.

The cadets lined the entrance staircase of The Lantern to welcome their family and friends before PCSO Karen Grant gave a brief overview of what the cadets had achieved and thanked everyone who had helped during the course of the Autumn programme.

Parents and representatives from all the services were also treated to and enjoyed a video presentation of the activities they had undertake during the programme.

Speeches of thanks and praise then came from the Deputy Major of Ilfracombe, Cllr Steve Trebble and Steve Rogers, the Deputy Head Teacher of Ilfracombe Academy.

Certificates of achievement, a DVD copy of the video presentation and a goodie bag were then given to the cadets by Cllr Steve Trebble alongside a certificate in recognition of the Heart Start qualification that all the cadets had achieved during the programme.

Hannah McDonald, One Ilfracombe Project Co-ordinator, added:

“the success of Out of the Blue  could not be achieved without the kind help and additional support from a number of organisations ranging from Ilfracombe Tesco and the local Co-op who supplied fruit and cake, to maintain energy levels, to the wonderful support of  our local emergency services.  We would also like to thank our volunteers who without which this scheme would not run”
